My entire law enforcement career has been built around the belief that by helping the victims of crime I am making a positive difference in their lives. Serving as Captain of Investigations gave me experience building teams to support this goal. As Sheriff I will provide steady direction to focus the efforts of the entire office to improve the quality of life of all residents through the reduction of crime and the relationships we build together.

My name is Ed Hertling
I am retired from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office where I served as Captain of Investigations.
As part of the Sheriff’s Command Staff I gained valuable experience in project management, budgeting, and personnel matters.

I also have significant incident command experience. This entails leading law enforcement officers in the field, being responsible for their safety, and the safe outcome of the operation.​
I have the right leadership and management experience to handle the challenges facing our community.

Protect the most vulnerable, everyone from children to the elderly
Putting Victims First with regular communication, transparency, and court support.
Building relationships with the community increases the quality of life of residents
Proactive enforcement of the law keeps our communities safe.
